Is the tide turning for “gender-affrming health care”? Part IV

Professional organizations

The American Medical Association (AMA) is strongly opposed to any “governmental intrusion” into the practice of “necessary gender-affirming care” by medical and other health care professionals.

Dr. Miriam Grossman, psychiatrist and author of Lost in TransNation: A Child Psychiatrist’s Guide out of the Madness, provides detailed evidence that medical professional organizations in the United States are run   by committees of LGBT activists and  debate is stifled. Dr. Grossman is concerned not only for the children and adolescents being transitioned but also for their parents, who are desperate for help. Providing testimony at a United States Congressional hearing on gender-affirming care she said that parents and the public in general are being “consistently fed misinformation.”

Sex education and school policies

What Action4Canada reports in detail on how Transgender ideology permeates sex education in Canada is true of sex education around the word. And this is the case not only in the sex education curriculum but in the texts and classroom teaching in every subject area.

The Media

The media report almost exclusively the Transgender point of view. A US News article on European restrictions on transgender health care  defines gender-affirming care as “age-appropriate health care that is medically necessary” (emphasis added) for the well-being of transgender and non-binary young people. The article describes the suffering of Chase, a 16-year-old male who has been trying to access gender-affirming health care since he was 13. Chase says that the long wait has been “harmful to their [preferred pronoun] mental health.” The article closes with “Access to gender-affirming health care makes quality of life and, as a result, ability to participate in society, “has improved so greatly” by having that access to such care.

I

Is the tide turning?

As Christians we know that there are two genders, male and female (Genesis 1:27) and from science we know that this is true from conception. Every chromosome in the human body is either male or female. A boy cannot be chemically or surgically changed into a girl, or vice versa.  Irreparable damage is being done to healthy young bodies and there are devastating consequences for their future lives for those who believe otherwise and act on their beliefs.

What can you do to spread awareness of this nightmare, to encourage others to express their concern, and to protect your teens from this social contagion.?

BARBARA’S MISSION

Young people everywhere are being bombarded day in and day out in our super-sexualized society by messages that both trivialize sex and encourage sexual activity. These messages are hurting our young people. Yet as Christians we are failing to give our teens a picture of healthy sexuality; we leave them on their own to figure things out, often with disastrous results – physical, emotional, and social. It doesn’t need to be this way, and it breaks my heart to see the pain resulting from our lack of action.
